You've found one of our photographers close to you to shoot with.
You have brought everything you need to the shoot.
Do you know any poses? Do you know how to alter your facial expression to suit the shots being taken?
Odds are that you don't. A photographer can help you pose at the shoot but it will be time consuming and frustrating. May also make for a bad experience for the 2 of you.
Like anything else in life where you learn anything, Studying comes into play. Before you do any shoot, research the type of shoot that you are doing, either on the net or in Magazines. Practice these poses in front of a mirror until you feel that you have them locked in. Eventually they will come naturally and you will be doing your own like second nature. Don't worry when you are shooting if your arm is in the right place or the pose is perfect. The person on the other end of the camera is responsible to make sure it looks good. After all, they are the only ones who can see it.
The second part of the equation is facial expressions. Many potential models, with the best looks in the world, fail because they can only give one look. Half the time that look is a stare into the camera like a deer in Headlights. Once again, practice in a mirror different emotions. Eventually you'll do these without effort and will be able to do more work than the average model. Looking good only works for some things. Being able to sell a product using facial emotion works for everything!
Learning to do both of these Will make your shoot a smooth, no stress and productive one.
